Reiki for Anxiety and Stress Relief in Beverly Hills

If your mind rarely switches off, if your shoulders live up by your ears, or if a low hum of worry follows you through the day, you're not alone — and you're not broken. Anxiety and chronic stress are, at their root, a nervous system stuck in "on." Reiki is one of the gentlest, most effective ways to help it remember how to switch off.

What stress does to your body

When you're under sustained stress, your body stays in fight-or-flight mode: elevated cortisol, shallow breathing, tense muscles, disrupted sleep, and a racing mind. Over time this takes a real toll on your mood, energy, digestion, and immune system. The goal of any calming practice is to shift you into the rest-and-digest state where your body actually heals.

How Reiki helps

During a Reiki session you lie down, fully clothed, while the practitioner rests their hands lightly on or just above the body. Most people drop into a deeply restful state somewhere between sleep and meditation within minutes. That state is the point — it's where your breathing slows, your muscles release, and your nervous system downshifts. Clients routinely describe leaving a session feeling lighter, clearer, and calmer than they have in weeks, and sleeping better that night.

What a session feels like

There's nothing you need to do except receive. You stay clothed, you can pause or stop at any time, and you're guided with consent throughout. Some people feel warmth or gentle tingling, some see colors, many simply melt into deep relaxation. All of it is normal, and all of it is welcome.

Is it a replacement for therapy or medication?

No, and a good practitioner will never claim so. Reiki is a complementary practice that supports your wellbeing alongside the care of your doctor or therapist. Think of it as a way to give your nervous system regular, intentional rest while you do the deeper work.

Getting started in Beverly Hills

At White Light 26, sessions are available in person on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, in-home across Los Angeles, or remotely via distance Reiki. The easiest first step is a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can make sure it's the right fit for you.

What the research actually says

Honestly: the evidence base for Reiki is small and of mixed quality, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling. What the better studies tend to find is a reduction in self-reported anxiety and an improvement in subjective relaxation, alongside measurable drops in heart rate and blood pressure during sessions. Researchers consistently note the same limitations — small samples, difficulty designing a convincing placebo, and reliance on how people say they feel. That does not make the effect imaginary; feeling calmer and sleeping better are real outcomes. It does mean Reiki belongs in the category of complementary care, and that is how it should be described to you.

What to do between sessions

session gives your nervous system an hour of genuine rest. What extends it is unglamorous: a consistent sleep and wake time, daylight early in the day, and a few minutes of slow breathing where the exhale runs longer than the inhale, which is the simplest available way to signal safety to the body. Clients who pair sessions with even one of these tend to report the effect holding noticeably longer. And if the anxiety is persistent or getting worse, please speak to your doctor as well — this work sits alongside that care, never in place of it.
